Welcome Miriam Machado, Interim Director of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum
Miriam has held the esteemed position of Director of Education at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University for over 15 years. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies from The Johns Hopkins University, Cum Laude, a Bachelor of Art History and Minor in Fine Art, and a graduate certificate in project management from FIU.
Miriam's tenure at the Frost has been extraordinary, marked by her pivotal role in developing inclusive arts-integrated educational programming and engaging the community since 2008. Her groundbreaking strategies have earned her prestigious titles like Museum Educator of the Year in 2022 and 2023 at both the state and national levels. She is unwavering in her dedication to expanding arts access in our community.
Her exceptional contributions led to her designation as the Director of the Arts and Cultural Division for the Florida Art Education Association in 2022, and she was honored with the Sara T. Maddox Support of Art Education Community Service Award in 2023.
As Interim Director, Miriam looks forward to supporting the museum's mission and vision, creating a transformative impact through the Arts and Humanities for our community, and aligning with the university’s initiatives and strategic plan.
