Instructions for Donating Artwork
Provide Essential Information: Please include details about the artist or maker, title, date, medium, dimensions, and provenance information of the artwork (exhibition history and verifiable history of ownership).
Documentation for Archaeological and Ethnographic Materials: Ensure that objects imported into the United States before 1970 have appropriate documentation, or provide proof of legal export from the country of origin if acquired after that date.
Digital Images: Submit high-quality digital images of the artwork in JPG, TIFF or similar format at 300 DPI or above, or provide a website URL where the work can be viewed online. (Please do not send physical artwork.)
Understand Our Policies: The museum only accepts unrestricted gifts, meaning once the artwork is received and the title has been transferred, the donation is irrevocable. We do not accept unsolicited loans, long-term storage loans, or purchase artwork from private individuals.
Important Deadlines: For potential year-end gifts, please provide all information for consideration by November 15.
No solicitation: Museum staff members are not available for unsolicited appointments. The Frost Art Museum does not provide services such as identification, authentication, appraisal, conservation, art handling, installation, or payment for packing and shipping of art donations.
Submit via Form: All proposals must be received digitally. Any materials submitted by regular mail will not be returned.
