Discover the rich artistic traditions of Afro-Cuban spirituality through this hands-on workshop exploring sacred beadwork and devotional music for the orishas, the deities of the Lucumí religion, also known as Santería.
Led by initiated priests Martin Tsang, PhD, a master bead artist, and Dr. Alexander Fernández, a multidisciplinary anthropologist and scholar of Afro-Diasporic spiritualities, participants will learn the colors, numbers, and symbolic correspondences of the orishas while designing and creating their own orisha-inspired beadwork to take home and will also learn songs from the Lucumí ritual repertoire.
No prior experience is necessary. Space is limited to 20 participants.
