The Art in State Buildings Program (ASB), established in 1979 by the Florida Legislature, allocates up to 0.5% of construction costs for new public buildings toward the acquisition of permanent artworks. This initiative supports the integration of art into public spaces, enhancing the cultural and educational environment of state facilities.
Five artists have been invited to propose site-specific works for the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs SIPA II Building (Project BT-887), the school’s west wing, which opened in Spring 2023. These commissions will contribute to the building’s identity while engaging students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
The shortlisted artists—Rafael Domenech, GeoVanna Gonzalez, Lee Pivnik, Germane Barnes, and Kelley Johnson—will present their proposals in a series of public Zoom meetings. These presentations are open to the community and form part of the final selection process.
Presentation Schedule:
- 10:00–10:45 AM — Rafael Domenech
- 11:00–11:45 AM — GeoVanna Gonzalez
- 1:00–1:45 PM — Lee Pivnik
- 3:00–3:45 PM — Germane Barnes
- 4:00–4:45 PM — Kelley Johnson
