The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University invites you to the 21st Annual Breakfast in the Park, part of the Steven & Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series. Since 1981, the series has introduced internationally renowned artists, museum curators, scholars, and critics to the South Florida community.

Held annually during Art Basel Miami Beach, this signature event has been a staple of South Florida’s cultural calendar since 2004, bringing together the public, students, and art world insiders for conversation, connection, and lite bites in an artful setting. Since its founding, Breakfast in the Park has hosted art world luminaries including Alfredo Jaar, Jenny Holzer, Jeffrey Gibson, Edwidge Danticat and María Magdalena CamposPons.

This year, we are honored to feature Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, an esteemed Italian-American curator, writer, and art historian, renowned for her transformative contributions to contemporary art. Christov-Bakargiev has played pivotal roles such as the Artistic Director of DOCUMENTA in Kassel, Germany, the 16th Biennale of Sydney, Australia, and the 14th Istanbul Biennial, Turkey. From 2016 to 2023, she served as Curator and Director of Castello di Rivoli and the Cerruti Foundation in Turin, Italy.

Her work integrates artistic, political, and ecological perspectives, resulting in major exhibitions that delve into themes of transformation and the limits of perception. Christov-Bakargiev is also actively curating internationally, with recent and forthcoming projects at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, France, the Arsenale Institute in Venice, Italy, and the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai, China.

We look forward to welcoming you to this enriching experience.
