Celebrate the closing of the exhibition The Lost Generation: Women Ceramicists and the Cuban Avant-Garde with a ceramic workshop inspired by the art on view. Led by Rosa Ansoleaga, create bowls using similar themes and motifs as the artists of the Taller de Santiago de las Vegas. All materials are provided. Due to the nature of this workshop, seating is limited.
Rosa Ansoleaga is a distinguished retired Miami-Dade Public Schools Art Educator, and she was the Lead Magnet Teacher at Robert Russa Moton Elementary. At R.R. Moton, Rosa built and established a rigorous art magnet program from the ground up. With a focus on arts integration and hands-on experiences, she consistently challenged her students to explore various artistic problems while finding creative solutions. Serving as an active member of NAEA, FAEA, and DAEA throughout her career, Rosa has been a driving force in leading professional learning at the local, state, and national levels. Culminating her career as a STEAM Curriculum Support Specialist for the Visual Arts Department, where she continued to spearhead professional learning and provided individualized New Teacher Support, Rosa has left her mark on our Visual Arts Program impacting many art educators and countless students’ lives. As a retired educator, she has also supported the Frost Art Museum's STEAMworks program, providing field experience activities for visiting students and STEAM-focused professional learning sessions. In her artistic endeavors, Rosa explores ceramics, sculpture, and 3-dimensional art that incorporates rich textures, diverse techniques, and experimentations. Through her curiosity, and love for understanding how things work, Rosa’s art is inspired by her own life experiences and the world as it unfolds around her.
This event is free and open to the public, thanks to our partners at FIU CasaCuba and Cernuda Arte.
