The word is out about Tertulia Nights at the Frost Art Museum! A monthly event held every second Thursday of the month, Tertulia Nights brings people together to share ideas, inspire creativity, and support local artists, scholars, and community leaders. Join us for a fun evening of engaging discussions and exciting activities!

Artist Alejandro Valencia will lead this edition of Tertulia Nights. Valencia lived through conflict in his native country of Colombia during the 1990s and moved to the US shortly thereafter. Valencia’s work addresses displaced, unofficial, and marginal perspectives.

In this workshop, we will explore and experiment with basic techniques of Morse Code, applying them through sound and image to create messages. We will reflect on the importance of communication to transcend boundaries and create connections, inquiring about the challenges of speaking and listening through non-verbal channels to understand one another.

This workshop is part of the ongoing project Canciones Orbitales, which intersects art, astronomy, and science fiction to explore themes of displacement, migration, and alienation.

This event is free and open to the public, thanks to our partners at the Art Bridges Foundation. Bites and refreshments provided by our friends at Half Moon Empanadas.
