Since 1981, the Frost Art Museum has enhanced its exhibitions and educational programs with the Steven and Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series, which has introduced numerous art world luminaries to the South Florida community. Internationally renowned artists, museum curators, scholars, and critics have spoken on a variety of art topics to audiences of over 800.

Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole was our guest speaker for our Fall 2017 season. Dr. Cole has trailblazed paths in the worlds of art and higher education. As director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Dr. Cole oversaw groundbreaking exhibitions, expanded the education programs, and served as the first Chief Diversity Officer at the Smithsonian. She was the first African-American woman to serve as President of Spelman College, and is an accomplished anthropologist, educator, and author. Dr. Cole has received numerous awards, including the BET Honors Education Award.
