Museum Studies Spring 2012 Exhibition

  • April 25, 2012 - September 21, 2012

Summary of Exhibition

Second Annual Museum Studies Exhibit: Jamaican Intuitive Art is drawn from a comprehensive group of paintings and sculptures of Jamaican Art in The Frost Art Museum's Permanent Collection, and is curated, designed and installed by students in the Graduate Certificate of Museum Studies Program.

Further Information about the Exhibition

Jamaican Intuitive Art is artwork created by self-trained and non-academically trained artists. These are individuals who through their paintings, drawings, and sculptures express thoughts about life and their surroundings.

This annual exhibition is part of the Introduction to Museum Ethics, Policies and Procedures course, intended to teach students about the inner workings of museums. By having firsthand experience creating an exhibition, students are introduced to a portion of the collection, for which they research the artists and art movements, and work in a team to develop the curatorial threads of the exhibition.

For more information on this exhibit, visit the Jamaican Intuitive Arts website or view the brochure on Issuu.
