The designer’s crisp colors and clean lines evoke early 20th-century modern paintings, with their crisp, clear, engineered lines that defy their geometry by allowing a woman to move unencumbered through space. Conscious of lines and forms in his work, Rodriguez refers to the natural and built world in his use of pattern, shape, and color. Narciso Rodriguez: An Exercise in Minimalism will explore the designer’s influences as well as the inspiration behind his fashion lines, which have evolved over the past 18 years but always maintain a sense of exactitude and precision.
